ROOTS!
That's Why You Buy With Confidence From CNPS
OUR HISTORY
Coastal & Native Plant Specialties (CNPS) is a product of the loving labor of our
founder and President, Dr. John C. Hovanesian. John holds a Ph. D. in Horticulture
and a curriculum Ph. D. in Botany from Louisiana State University. John is very
community involved and sits on a major scientific advisory council for the state
of Florida and is a senior technical advisor to a wide array of public and private
organizations. He is extensively published and a respected authority in his areas
of coastal and native plant propagation. More important to you, he is a hands-on,
on-site manager of CNPS. He has looked at, and maybe even touched the very plants
you are receiving!
Dr. John began CNPS in 1996 as an offshoot of his continuing project Agricultural
Innovations & Research (AIR), a research foundation developing agriculturally-based
processes and products from emerging technologies. CNPS was immediately successful
as a grower and supplier of sea oats, winning the first Florida Department of
Environmental Protection contract for Sea Oat repopulation following our two
back-to-back hurricanes, Eric & Opal. One of our latest contracts concluded in
February of 1999, when we put the finishing touches on 17 miles of beach restoration
in Panama City.
Expansion of resources and a keen desire to continue with beneficial environmental
projects has allowed Dr. John to our expand our line from Sea Oats and other coastal
plants to also include Aquatics. Additionally, CNPS has begun work on the propagation
of Exotic Native Plants, some of which are now commercially available.
As you can see we are very proud of our work and our position in the horticultural
community. We are pleased to make available to you not only our plants but also
our knowledge represented by Dr. John Hovanesian. We welcome you, and thank you
for the opportunity to be of service.
